Rochelle Strauss

Rochelle at ease!

Rochelle Strauss is an award-winning author, freelance writer and education consultant in Toronto, Canada. A graduate of McGill University (BA) and York University (MES), Rochelle has over 15 years experience in developing, writing and implementing education and communication initiatives, specializing in environment and natural history. Rochelle has worked on national and international projects as an interpretive planner, educator and freelance writer. Her clients have included; museums, architects, designers, parks, NGO’s, governments, schools and school boards.

In addition to her consulting work, Rochelle is also an accomplished children’s author. Rochelle’s books, Tree of Life: the Incredible Biodiversity of Life of Earth (Kids Can Press 2004) andOne Well: the Story of Water on Earth (Kids Can Press, 2007) have received several awards and honours including: the Children’s Literature Roundtables of Canada Information Book Award, Santa Monica Public Libraries Green Prize for Sustainable Literature, Society of School Librarians International Book Award and the ASPCA Henry Bergh Children’s Book Award. Her books have also been published across the globe including in the UK, Australia, Japan, Korean, Egypt, Mexico and Turkey.

Through her work, Rochelle combines her love of nature and passion for stories to teach children about the wonders of the natural world. When I first met Rochelle, I knew immediately that I wanted to work with her, over and over again. Not simply because of our shared love for the natural world, but because she inspires excellence with anyone she works with, and brings out the best in all of us.
